High Sheriff of Surrey Visits Renewed Hope

“What does the Sheriff of Surrey do?” asked one of our guests when Honorable Christopher Critchlow, High Sheriff of Surrey, visited Shrewsbury chapel at the end of January. He was happy to explain that his role is a  link between the Sovereign  and the people in Surrey. In particular the Sheriff takes an active part in promoting the voluntary sector and in encouraging voluntary organisations, particularly where they are involved with crime reduction and social cohesion.

It was with that hat on that Honourable Christopher Critchlow visited the drop-in on a busy Monday. He was welcomed by Anna Coe (project coordinator ) and Sam Ferrar (Chair of Renewed Hope Trustees) before being given a tour of the day centre, and being introduced to  volunteers and guests. He was keen to see how Renewed Hope helps the most vulnerable of our friends and neighbours . We also discussed the events we have planned for 2023 including street collections and The Renewed Hope Summer Party.

The Sheriff’s feedback after his visit was very encouraging , and he wrote to us later “I very much enjoyed my visit today and meeting you, some of your volunteers and guests. Thank you for giving me so much of your time and chatting about what you’re doing. I thought there was a lovely warm atmosphere in the hall and I was impressed by the cooking and the work of the volunteers. I enjoyed my chats with your guests. You’re so important to so many people and I sincerely thank you for what you do for everyone who comes to you.”

Honourable Critchlow’s year in office ends in March 2023, and we wish him well for the future, and look forward to welcoming his successor later in the year.

Thanks to Staff and Customers at Day Lewis Pharmacy In Tadworth

The staff at Day Lewis Pharmacy , Tadworth, selected Renewed Hope as their charity for a recent fundraising week . They made cakes, offered sweets and invited donations.  Through the generosity of their customers  they raised £90, and Day Lewis Pharmacy UK are matching that to make a total of £180.

We are most appreciative of their support. Renewed Hope is dependent on the local community to fund the work we do. All these contributions directly help those that need it most!

Many thanks to all!

Launching the 2022 Big Sleepout !

Renewed Hope – The Big Sleepout 2022

Renewed Hope are planning a community event on the theme of homelessness to increase awareness and raise funds.

The Event

The event will be an overnight sleep-out in the grounds of Old Reigatian RFC, Reigate.  You can choose between sleeping under a gazebo, in a tent or even under the stars!

The date for your diary is Saturday 10th September 2022, with everyone arriving from 5pm onwards.  There will be a designated area for you to set up camp, with toilets and a water supply available.

Food (supplied by local businesses) will be available from 7:00 pm, on a theme of the soup kitchens that have sprung up in towns and cities in response to the need.

There will be a bonfire and some entertainment throughout the evening, as well as spaces for games.

We will be welcoming individuals, families, community groups, and teams from local businesses to take part in the day, or support it in any other way they fancy.

Awareness raising

Leading up to the event, we will be sharing information about homelessness, and about the work we do.  We would love to come and meet any community groups and businesses in person to talk about the need for our services, and about how people can help.

Fundraising

There will be a small charge to ensure we cover the cost of the event. We are asking all the participants to try and raise a minimum of £150 in sponsorship, or through any fundraising activities they fancy in the lead up to 10th Sept.

We have set up a Just Giving Campaign page here Just Giving campaign Page . You can set up your own fundraising pages linked to this.

We are now open for bookings   Book your place here

Launching Renewed Hope’s Spring Campaign : Help someone like Rob!

Can you help someone like Rob ? Renewed Hope has launched a Spring fundraising campaign.

ROB’S STORY

“I spent 4 years isolated in my flat, and in a strange way losing my home has led me to feeling better than I ever have, because of Renewed Hope. I have never had friends like this or support like this. I love this place, I don’t know what I would have done without it, and I will still come back when I have a home”

Since then, Rob has moved into his own flat, and is doing well.

Your contribution will help people like Rob, and the other 250 + people who come to us every year.

  • £15 covers the fuel costs for the drop in for a day
  • £25 pays for a session of one to one support
  • £30 covers lunch and coffee for 15 guests
