Volunteering

“Working with our guests has taught me so much already and I value the interactions with all of them.”

Drop-In volunteer

These are great opportunities for people who want to get involved in a friendly, community based charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people. We are also interested in involved people with lived experience into all parts of our services.

Our volunteers have access to our duty rota. Here they can choose the slots that work for them – some do a regular weekly slot, and others do occasional slots when they can!

Drop-in Volunteers – focus on Kitchen helpers

Our Drop-In day support service runs Weekdays 10.45am to 3.30pm and weekends 12pm-1.30pm under supervision of a Drop-In Leader.

  • Drop-In Kitchen Supervisor – prepare a hot lunch for up to 20 people with help from a Kitchen Assistant using items donated to Renewed Hope.
  • Drop-In Kitchen Assistant – helping to serve meals, helping to prepare food and general kitchen duties
  • Drop-In Assistant –  serving drinks and snacks, chatting with the guests and joining in with activities or games.

The Drop-In Leader manages the session, the other volunteers and supports the guests while the Drop-In Assistant helps out with any necessary tasks, including making drinks and cleaning of tables and toilets. During the week, a member of staff is also on site.

At the weekend, our Drop-In opens for lunch 12pm-1.30pm. The shift starts at 11.45am and has a team of three people: A Drop-In Leader and two Drop-In Assistants. Between them they prepare a hot snack for up to 15 people using items donated to Renewed Hope.

  • Friendly and non judgmental.
  • Good listener
  • Able to maintain personal boundaries

Fundraising and community events assistants

We have lots of events during the year raising money and awareness of Renewed Hope. These involve volunteers manning stands at fayres, street collections and craft sales. They may be involved in taking card payments and handling cash on stalls.

People with an outgoing nature, who enjoy talking to people are ideal for those role. Experience working with money would be helpful, but not essential

For more information, or for an informal chat, please contact Andrew by emailing info@renewedhope.org.uk or calling 01737 886997.
